What the extension accesses

When you start a recording on a tab, the extension processes, on your device:

• Your microphone audio — to transcribe what you say into text.
• Screenshots of the tab you are recording — captured at the moments you click, select, scroll, or trigger them.
• Anything you draw on the page — optional on-page marks (drawn with a right-drag) are painted into those screenshots so you can point at things. They are part of the screenshot, never sent anywhere.
• Page context — the page URL/title and a short description of the element you clicked or selected (tag, nearby text), so each screenshot is labeled.

It only does this while a recording is active, and only for the tab you chose to record.

Importing a Loom video

If you choose Import this Loom video while you are on a loom.com/share/… page, the extension reads that page's existing transcript and captures frames of the video (using the same screenshot mechanism as live recording), entirely on your device, to build the same local bundle. It does not use your microphone, does not download the underlying video file, and sends nothing to the developer or to Loom beyond your normal use of the Loom page.

Where your data goes

• Your Downloads folder — each recording is written to Downloads/ai-feedback/session-…/ as feedback.md, session.json, and the screenshot images.
• The extension's local storage — a local library of your recent recordings (kept in the browser's IndexedDB on your machine) and your settings.

Nothing is transmitted to the developer. There is no backend server, no account, no telemetry, and no advertising. Your bundle leaves your device only if you choose to share a zip.

Microphone transcription (important)

Transcription uses Chrome's built-in Web Speech API. In Chrome, this means your spoken audio is sent to the browser's speech-recognition service (operated by Google) to be converted to text — the same as using voice typing. This is a browser feature; the extension itself does not transmit your audio anywhere else. Google's handling of that audio is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Checking for updates

Because the extension is installed unpacked, Chrome does not auto-update it. Once a day it asks GitHub for the latest release version (a single request to api.github.com for this project's newest release tag) so it can offer you an update. That request contains no user data — no page URLs, no recordings, no identifiers of any kind; like any web request, GitHub's servers see your IP address. You can turn the daily check off in Settings → Updates.

What we do not do

• We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data.
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting.
• We do not transmit your screenshots, transcripts, or browsing activity to any server we control (we operate none).
• We do not use your data for anything beyond the extension's single purpose, and never for creditworthiness or lending.

Your control & retention

You are in control of your data. The recordings library keeps your most recent sessions on your device until you remove them — you can delete individual screenshots, delete a recording, or clear the whole library from the extension's Recordings page. Files already written to your Downloads folder remain there until you delete them. Removing the extension removes its local storage.

Children

The extension is a developer tool and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new date.
